Last weekend's NFL Draft was an emotional ride for the Sanders family. Shedeur, originally slated to be a first or second round pick, fell all the way to the third day of the draft and the fifth round before he was selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders' other son Shilo was not selected in the NFL Draft, but has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.
Some have attributed Shedeur's massive slide in the draft to his demeanor and attitude, with some reports of his conduct and personality in interviews turning teams off.
After the draft, Deion took to social media and gave some advice that seems to fit his son's situation.
Stop the pity party because ain't nobody care like u think they do! It's time to self reflect & look in the mirror and determine if what u see gonna get u where u wanna go! CHANGE ain't easy & CHANGING is vital. Let's work on improving & presenting the best u! #CoachPrime

"Stop the pity party because ain't nobody care like u think they do!," Sanders said on Friday morning.
"It's time to self reflect & look in the mirror and determine if what u see gonna get u where u wanna go! CHANGE ain't easy & CHANGING is vital. Let's work on improving & presenting the best u!"
Shedeur was taken with the No. 144 overall pick in the fifth round last Saturday, a far cry from the first-round selection that many mock drafts projected that he would be. Sanders lost out on salary with the massive slide in the draft, but he's proven to be a popular player.
His jersey is the top seller among 2025 NFL Draft picks, even eclipsing No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward.
Sanders will now look to prove himself on the field, and he should have plenty of opportunities to do so in training camp and the preseason. The Browns drafted another quarterback in former Oregon star Dillon Gabriel, and the two could be part of the conversation for Cleveland's Week 1 starter.
"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity," Shedeur Sanders said about being drafted by the Browns this week.
"I don't ever focus on the negative or even think about the negative. I've just got to prove and show what I'm capable of. What fuels me is my purpose in life and understanding the route that we're going to have to take. Understanding that I was able to get an opportunity when a lot of people didn't want to give me an opportunity. So that's what I'm truly thankful for."
With a positive attitude and an outlook that suggests hard work, we'll see if Sanders can make his mark in the NFL.
