DeMarvion Overshown is not slowing down growing narrative about Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer that's turning heads in the NFL

Getting hired by the Dallas Cowboys as the tenth head coach in franchise history probably surprised Brian Schottenheimer as much as it did the rest of the NFL world. But he's shown he wasn't unprepared for his big break.

Only a few months into the job, Schottenheimer appears to be building a strong culture within the Cowboys locker room . Micah Parsons is around the building even as he negotiates a long-term contract extension with the front office. Rookies and veterans alike are talking about the "energy" present at practice. Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Kaiir Elam recently said he had never been a part of a team with so much energy.

While it's too early to tell if any of it will translate into wins come the regular season, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown isn't interested in slowing down the Schottenheimer hype train.

"A culture is being created," Overshown wrote on a Twitter/X post on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Cowboys defensive back Juanyeh Thomas posted a picture of practice with Schottenheimer that read "Fun again." Overshown quoted it with the phrase "I told y'all."

Since the moment he was introduced as Cowboys head coach, Schottenheimer's messaging has been consistent: He prioritizes relationships and wants to understand and relate to his players. While he might not be the strategist that Bill Belichick or the play calling guru that Ben Johnson is, his calling card will be building a culture.

Whether it's big or not, players are clearly noticing something different in the building.

None of it will matter if the Cowboys don't get the Xs and Os and on-field execution right starting in September. But if this narrative turns out to be anything more than a large scoop of "hopium"—a popular online term to describe false hope—then Schottenheimer's team could wind up shocking the entire league.
