As Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix works through an inconsistent sophomore season, he says he avoids social media to overcome adversity.
Although the Broncos have won seven straight games and lead the AFC West, their offense has been held below 20 points in three of their last five contests. Nix’s completion percentage has dropped from 66.3% to 60.9%, while his interception rate has slightly risen from 2.1% to 2.3% through 10 starts.
Nix heard Broncos fans booing during a November 6 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, but he deliberately avoided reading anything they might have posted online.
“We make this entertainment business a lot bigger than what it is, and we forget everybody is just out here having a good time, having fun, doing the best they can,” Nix said on Thursday.
He added, “So, unless somebody says it to my face, I don’t really hear it — and nobody is ever bold enough to say it to your face.”
Nix referenced his freshman season at Auburn, when the Tigers lost on the road to SEC rival Florida in October 2019. In the aftermath, Nix said he “got to know the bad side” of being a quarterback when social media exists.
“It’s unfortunate for sure, but at the same time, it’s what comes with the territory,” Nix told reporters.
Nix has thrown for 2,126 yards with 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions and has led four fourth-quarter comebacks. On the ground, he has rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns. His 54.7 QBR ranks 18th — the same position he held last season.
NFL Media gives the 8‑2 Broncos a 91% chance to reach the postseason, the third‑best among AFC teams as of November 14. The No. 1‑seeded New England Patriots, who moved to 9‑2 with a victory over the New York Jets on Thursday, lead all AFC clubs with 98% odds, while the Indianapolis Colts are close behind at 93%.

Nix and the Broncos would host the No. 6 Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round if the postseason began tomorrow. Denver automatically hosts a playoff game if it captures its first AFC West title since 2015, when the Broncos went on to defeat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
The AFC’s other playoff teams currently include the No. 4 Pittsburgh Steelers (40% odds), No. 5 Los Angeles Chargers (83%), and No. 7 Jacksonville Jaguars (37%) as of Friday morning.
Denver has not made the playoffs in consecutive years since winning the AFC West every year from 2011 through 2015.
FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Broncos as 3.5‑point home underdogs to the Kansas City Chiefs (+102, bet $100 for a $202 payout). Kansas City’s postseason chances would drop from 71% to 57% with a loss to Denver.
