Sean Payton, George Paton, and the Denver Broncos are constantly trying to find ways to improve both the roster and the staff, front office, and coaching.
Let's face it, over the last decade, before last season really, the Broncos were not the best when it came to drafting players and developing them, especially with the quarterback position. They just either missed on prospects or drafted the wrong guys. Their scouting department hasn't been the best, and that's just a fact.
So, why not add someone who used to play at a very high level? Not only did he play at a high level, but he played at a high level for the Broncos, for a while, too.
According to Mike Klis of Denver Nine News, the Broncos could be interested in hiring former safety Kareem Jackson to their scouting staff. But, Klis also made it known that Jackson has made it unclear on whether he will play in the NFL again or not.
Jackson was a first-round pick, 20th overall to the Houston Texans in 2010 after winning a National Championship at Alabama. Jackson began as a cornerback before switching to safety. Known for his physicality, Jackson is a guy that used to lay the wood on receivers and running backs.
In 2019, he joined the Broncos, playing five seasons and starting 69 games, recording five interceptions and 293 tackles. In 2023, he faced two suspensions for illegal hits, totaling four games, and was released late that year.
Jackson returned to the Texans in 2023 for two games and ended the season on their practice squad. In 2024, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons but was cut before the season. He worked out with the Tennessee Titans in October 2024 but didn’t sign. Over his career, he played 206 games, started 193, and had 22 interceptions, 66 pass deflections, and 1,029 tackles.
The guy knows how to play football, so while the athletic ability may not be there anymore, he may want to try his hand at coaching or scouting.
