Denver Broncos Predicted to Sign Dallas Cowboys 1,000-Yard Running Back

Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle finds himself as a free agent for the first time in his career since joining the NFL after going undrafted in 2020.

Could his new home be with the Denver Broncos?

ESPN's Ben Solak predicted the Broncos would look to improve their run game this offseason, adding that Dowdle could be a fit. In his offseason prediction section, he predicted Denver would poach him from the Cowboys if they don't add Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones.

Dowdle finished 2024 with 1,079 yards on 235 rushing attempts. Dowdle, however, only finished with two rushing touchdowns.

While he will turn 27 years old in June, he hasn't seen the sort of workload that many other running backs have seen by the time they reach his age, meaning he still could have a lot left in the tank and could, and perhaps should, be viewed as a long-term starter.

He faced some struggles in the early part of the season but found his way late into the year.

The Broncos have shown that the passing game is there, and with a good running back, they could be a team to watch out for. If Denver wants to invest in a good, reliable running back to take over 15 attempts per game, Dowdle could be the man for the job.
