Denver Broncos QB Zach Wilson Finally Reveals Thoughts On Trade
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos have completely remade their quarterback room this offseason. It all started with the decision to move on from Russell Wilson. After that move was made, they acquired Zach Wilson in a trade with the New York Jets and followed that up by drafting Bo Nix in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Wilson never truly got a fair shot with the Jets. He was vilified at every turn when he didn’t come out looking like a superstar during his rookie season.

As his tenure with New York wore on, any mistake he made was blasted by the fans and media. Even when he did a serviceable job filling in when Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury last season, the media found ways to hate on him. He was even hated on for getting hurt himself.

Finally, he is not going to have to deal with the New York media and fan base. A change of scenery to the Denver Broncos is a welcome sight for the young quarterback.

Denver Broncos QB Zach Wilson Finally Reveals Thoughts On Trade

Following the trade, Wilson decided to stay quiet. Finally, he has spoken out and revealed his thoughts on joining the Denver Broncos and leaving the Jets.

“Yeah, obviously there are bittersweet moments in everything. I was grateful for my experience there and the guys, I miss the guys out there and everything too. At the same time, a fresh start is good and I’m excited to attack a new challenge.”

As has been the case throughout his entire NFL career, Wilson had a perfect answer and handled the situation with grace and professionalism. Even in New York when he was under attack, Wilson never lashed out. He stayed poised and focused on trying to improve and make a bad situation good.

Looking ahead at his situation with the Denver Broncos, it seems very unlikely that he will end up winning the starting job. Both Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham are ahead of him on the depth chart. That being said, Wilson has never had the quit gene in his blood.

Whether he gets a chance to play in Denver or not, he can set himself up to get another chance somewhere else with a good showing during training camp and preseason action.

It’s hard not to root for Wilson after the way his time with the Jets went. Hopefully, he’s able to make the most of his opportunity to showcase his skill-set in Denver. There is no denying the potential he possesses.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the Denver Broncos’ quarterback competition. Nix seems to have the early edge, but that is subject to change in the coming weeks and months.
