Denver Broncos Quiet Doubters after Comeback Win vs Rams

The Denver Broncos were one bad second half away from their season taking a turn for the worse. They trailed the Rams 16-0 at the half, and things looked bleak. Fortunately for them, Bo Nix and company did a complete 180 in the second half and pulled off the comeback.

First Half Struggles

The Rams had their way with Denver in the first half. The offense was dealing, as Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, and Kyren Williams couldn’t be stopped. The defense completely shut down Bo Nix, who only threw for 53 yards and couldn’t get into any sort of rhythm. Sitting at 1-1 through two games, Denver can’t afford to get off to these kinds of starts. The boo birds were coming from the crowd, and the Rams looked like they were going to run away with this one.

Second Half 180

Denver didn’t flip the script immediately in the second half. They got the ball to start and went three-and-out. Thankfully for the hopes of their season, they forced Los Angeles to punt and then got to work. Bo Nix and company moved the ball quite easily in the second half, scoring 30 points in the final two quarters. Nix ended the game with 186 yards and two touchdowns after hardly eclipsing 50 yards in the first half. 

The defense stepped up mightily, forcing Matthew Stafford to be under duress and throw two fourth-quarter interceptions. Whatever Sean Payton said to his team at halftime, it clearly worked. The Broncos were on the verge of getting blown out and starting 1-2; instead, they are 2-1 and moving forward with momentum. 

Controversial Pass Interference Call

The final minutes of the game wouldn’t come without controversy. With 1:15 remaining and the ball on the Rams ‘ 11-yard line, Nix threw an interception that was called back due to a pass interference penalty on Rams defensive back Josh Wallace. The penalty came with controversy as it appeared Wallace made a legitimate play on the ball and didn’t commit the penalty.
