All eyes are on some of the biggest potential targets this NFL offseason. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is a player who will likely be on a new team this upcoming NFL Season.
Among the teams constantly in the rotation are the Denver Broncos who are looking to build around incoming second-year quarterback Bo Nix. The idea of the Broncos acquiring one of the most dynamic weapons in the league excites many Broncos fans.
CBS Spots’ Tyler Sullivan wrote about how some of the top team destinations for Samuel would handle a trade with San Francisco. Following the Pittsburgh Steelers on the list are the Broncos who are projected to trade their fourth-round pick (no. 120) for Samuel.
The Broncos could make the best use of Samuel based on his skillset and the Broncos’ style of offense. Head coach Sean Payton is seeking a dynamic jack-of-all-trades player to run all types of routes, line up at multiple positions, and take direct snaps for running plays.
In his lone Pro Bowl year in 2021, Samuel has caught 77 receptions for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns while also rushing for 365 yards and eight touchdowns on 59 carries.
Since that season, his productivity has stalled due to nagging injuries. In 43 games played in these three seasons, Samuel has caught 167 receptions for 2,194 yards and 12 touchdowns while also rushing for 593 yards and nine touchdowns on 121 carries.
Samuel has just turned 29 years old and hasn’t shown signs of slowing down outside of the injuries. If the Broncos trade for Samuel, he would be an immediate target for the short and fast plays. Samuel would also be a great compliment to wide receivers Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr., who are both deep-threat playmakers.
