Derek Carr can’t wait to ‘start a fight’ against ex-teammate Maxx Crosby whenever Saints face the Raiders next
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time after leaving Las Vegas, New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr will have the fortune to face his old team, with whom he had an ugly fallout. Recently, he expressed his eagerness to play against his former team and to take on his old friend Maxx Crosby.

Talking on his Instagram story, Carr was answering some fan questions. In one of those questions, the former Raider was asked about taking on Crosby in 2024. Taking a humorous approach, Carr claimed that he won’t shy away from starting a fight and punching his former teammate.

I am looking forward to it, I cannot wait--I'm going to try and start a fight with him and punch him and then have the ref only see him throw his punch back. That's my go. Derek Carr via Instagram

Derek Carr was a part of the Las Vegas team for nine years straight. He started his career as a Raider and amounted to a total of more than 35,000 passing yards with 217 regular season touchdowns. However, the QB was traded to the New Orleans Saints in 2023, where he had a dominating display with 25 touchdowns and more than 3,800 passing yards.

In addition, he improved on his turnovers and interceptions, which significantly came down to eight (one of the least number of interceptions in the season). Despite his brilliance on the gridiron, the Saints failed to achieve a place in the postseason.

However, the QB received the needed validation and would continue as the signal caller of the Saints this season as well. This will bring a difficult challenge to him as he has to face his one-time colleague, Maxx Crosby. His chilled-out attitude reflected the mentality that he had towards his former team.

Derek Carr has a very good relationship with Maxx Crossby

The words that Carr threw at his former teammate reflected his relationship with Maxx Crosby. They both shared a fantastic bond when they were on the same team. Even after the ugly breakup of Carr from Las Vegas, the relationship has not been impacted a bit.

The feelings were on full display last year when Crossby opened up about his honest take on Carr’s departure from his team.

Honestly, it's just bittersweet. He's always been a great friend of mine ever since I got in the league. I got a ton of love for him. But right now, for both sides -- for the organization, for D.C. -- everybody's going in different directions. That's the tough part of this business.  Derek Crosby in his conversation with NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe last year

Despite sharing a good friendship, it is expected that both will not allow an inch of space to each other when they have a faceoff. The Las Vegas Raiders team has found a different form since Antonio Pierce has taken charge. Despite not achieving the postseason goals, the Raiders’ form impressed everyone. In the coming season, the Raiders are one of the black horses for the Super Bowl.
