Derrick Henry 2025 Fantasy Outlook: Slept On Once Again?

Derrick Henry was a value in last year’s fantasy draft, and he might be one again this year. Do not be the person to make the mistake and pass him up based on his ADP. The King of Charm City should be a fantasy running back one till he retires, as he continues to defy time itself. Despite his season last year, Henry isn’t always a top-five pick at his position based on his current but will likely continue to be a fantasy juggernaut in all formats.

The 31-year-old almost had 2,000 rushing yards in his first season with the Ravens. The Lamar Jackson-Henry combo won fantasy players some leagues, as the Baltimore combo had a top quarterback and top-five running back weekly. The touchdown upside with him is immense after a 16 rushing touchdown season, even more than Saquon Barkley, as Jackson ran less in the red zone while Henry took almost all the touchdown equity for Baltimore.

Christian McCaffrey might also be a value where he is being taken as a top-eight running back, but the edge goes to Henry just because he’s been healthier relative to CMC. A winning recipe if you pick later is a double hero running back, and take Henry as one of your starting backs. To then pair him with Jackson gives you most of the touchdown equity in Baltimore with one of the most potent and higher-scoring offenses.

Derrick Henry 2025 Fantasy Outlook

East Rutherford, NJ — December 15, 2024 — Derrick Henry of the Ravens runs the ball against the Giants in the first half. The Baltimore Ravens came to MetLife Stadium to play the New York Giants.

After the Ravens extended the veteran back to stay in Baltimore for the next two seasons, Henry, of course, is a top-five back in standard and half-PPR, but top seven in PPR rankings. According to FantasyPros, that makes him either a late first or second-round pick in all formats for Fantasy Football. Even in PPR, I would consider it to be a value where he is ranked among the running backs, especially if other backs go ahead of him in the top 10.

With players like Bucky Irving, Ashton Jeanty, and De’Von Achane ranked in his range, this is a no-brainer. Despite not having the receptions, Henry just has a way higher ceiling in scoring, and with the Ravens offense. He is as consistent as they come in terms of a fantasy starter week to week as the number one back. Despite starting off slow in 2024, Henry finished as a top-four back even in PPR leagues with eight monster 20-30 fantasy point weeks last year.

Final Thoughts on Derrick Henry

With just one game under the single digits for PPR in 2024, Henry is one of the safest options while having game-wrecking upside at the position. Depending on where you pick, he could be a target early in the second, especially if there is a run on wide receivers. If the vet gets passed up into the third round, Derrick Henry might be the best pick of your fantasy draft.

With Todd Monken back for his third season and also extended, Henry shows no sign of him potentially slowing down for 2025, with the Ravens offense potentially getting better overall with the addition of DeAndre Hopkins. The Baltimore duo at QB and RB should be another great stack for fantasy redraft this coming season.
