Derrick Henry Leaves No Doubt on His MVP Pick

Derrick Henry knows who his Most Valuable Player is for the 2024 NFL season, and it’s no other than his teammate and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Those who have their MVP bets on Jackson should be feeling better about their pick following the Ravens’ 31-2 drubbing of the Houston Texans on Wednesday at NRG Stadium in Houston.

"He deserves it,” Henry said of the MVP chants for Jackson that reverberated inside the stadium during the Texans game, per Sarah Ellison of Ravens Vault.

“He's been doing this for a long time, and it's only right for him to get a third one. The stats prove it."

Jackson, who already has two NFL MVPs under his belt, had his way against the Texans’ defense. He lit up Houston for 168 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 10-of-15 pass completions. As usual, he did plenty of damage on the ground as well, as the former Louisville Cardinals star signal-caller rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on just four carries.

As for Henry, he pummeled Houston for 147 rushing yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. He had a blunder in the second period when he was tackled in the end zone for a Houston safety, but that shouldn’t take away much from Baltimore’s incredible performance.

Many believe that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the favorite to win the NFL MVP in the 2024 season. Jackson, however, is having a strong finish to the campaign, which is giving his MVP case a big shot in the arm.

On the season, Jackson has 3,955 passing yards and 39 touchdowns against only four interceptions while leading the NFL with a 121.6 passer rating.
