Derrick Henry Sends Message to Ravens After Rams Game

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off an AFC Divisional Round appearance, but they're not on pace to get back there right now. They're now 1-5 after their 17-3 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, and the only team they've beaten is the 1-5 Cleveland Browns.

Star tailback Derrick Henry did his part, totaling 122 rushing yards on 24 carries (5.1-yard average). However, the offense couldn't get in the end zone with backup quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Tyler Huntley under center.

Starting signal-caller Lamar Jackson (hamstring), who also missed Baltimore's 44-10 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 5, is expected to return in Week 8 per Ravens.com's Ryan Mink. The team is on bye in Week 7.

However, that didn't stop Henry from expressing his disappointment postgame, via ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

"It pisses me off," he said when asked about Baltimore not scoring a touchdown from the one-yard line in the second quarter.

Henry notched a three-yard rush one first and goal from the four-yard line with 1:52 left in the first half, but the Rams then stuffed tight end Mark Andrews on two consecutive direct snaps. Baltimore handed the ball back to the veteran running back on fourth down, but he was stopped for a two-yard loss.

The sequence was a missed opportunity for the Ravens, who would've gone up 10-3 with a touchdown.

Will Lamar Jackson Revive Ravens' Season?

Baltimore is lucky that its star quarterback is healing up, as its offense has scored just one touchdown over the last two games without him, which was a one-yard score by Henry against Houston.

At the same time, Jackson can't fix a Ravens defense that ranks last in the NFL with 35.4 points allowed per game via TeamRankings.com. The two-time MVP must be nearly perfect to make up for that, which he's capable of when healthy.

Jackson entered Sunday ranking fifth in football with a 73.9 QBR via ESPN. The 28-year-old also has 10 passing touchdowns and one rushing score against just one interception.

Baltimore will host the Chicago Bears in Week 8, who rank 28th with 29.3 points allowed per game. Jackson should be able to help the Ravens get points on the board, but their defense must build on its improved effort against Los Angeles.

The Week 8 contest will be at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 26 and will be broadcast on CBS.
