The 2025 NFL season has started, and Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is still excelling.

The nine-year pro is beginning his second season with the Baltimore team after spending the first seven with the Tennessee Titans. In his previous season, he rushed for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns. During the first game of the season against the Buffalo Bills, he had over 120 rushing yards before the fourth quarter and added a touchdown, which came from a 30-yard run.

Derrick Henry’s NFL Career Numbers Are Already Hall of Fame-Worthy

Henry has established himself as one of the best running backs in the NFL since entering the league in 2016 and will likely be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. As of Sunday night's game, he has rushed for 11,423 yards and 106 touchdowns. Before his successful professional career, he had an impressive college run, amassing 3,591 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns over three seasons. In 2015, he won the Heisman Trophy while playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

High School Stats That Still Defy Belief

Despite his success in the NFL and college, his statistics in high school were unparalleled. This fact resurfaced during his strong performance against the Bills.

Henry was a five-star recruit in the 2013 class and ranked among the top 15 players in the nation coming out of high school. He started all four seasons at Yulee High School in Yulee, Fla., where he rushed for over 2,400 yards each season. In his final season, he achieved an impressive 4,261 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns. Over the course of his four seasons, he totaled 12,124 rushing yards and 153 touchdowns.

In his four high school seasons, he rushed for more yards and touchdowns than he has in his nine NFL seasons. This is notable given that he had four seasons with over 1,500 rushing yards and two seasons with over 1,900 yards in the NFL. Additionally, he has achieved six 1,000-yard seasons and one other season with over 900 yards. Despite these impressive statistics, he entered Sunday’s game still 701 yards short of his high school rushing totals.

Derrick Henry’s Legacy: From Yulee to the NFL

From Yulee High to Alabama to Tennessee to Baltimore, Henry’s résumé is almost assuredly unmatched. The fact that his NFL production still hasn’t surpassed his high school totals is a reminder of just how otherworldly his dominance has been at every level, and why his career will be remembered as one of the greatest for a running back.
