Desmond Ridder explains what happened on Mack Hollins sideline blow up

Football is a game that you cannot play without emotions. All of the greats play with their hearts on their sleeves. So, it’s not unusual to see those emotions boil over on the sidelines, which is what we saw in London between Desmond Ridder and Mack Hollins.

The Falcons offense failed to produce a touchdown in Week 3 and then only put up seven points last week against the Jaguars in London. That’s 13 total points for a unit that features three top 10 draft picks and a slew of other weapons. It was supposed to be one of the most exciting offenses in football.

Instead, we’ve been left scratching our heads while watching Bijan Robinson be the only functional piece of the offense, leading to our first sight of public frustration, which came from Hollins as Ridder came over to him on the sidelines.

The veteran wideout lashed out at the third-round pick, but as a franchise quarterback should, Ridder downplayed the incident today to the media.

“I was coming over saying whatever and he just had a break of emotion. We have a standard of play for this offense … and we haven’t been playing to it. He felt it was necessary to let his emotions out. You saw the video…

It makes it look like it was directed toward me. It was directed toward me, toward the offense, toward everyone. He obviously plays with a lot of emotion. We know we weren’t playing the way we were supposed to be playing and that makes a lot of people mad,” Desmond Ridder said about Mack Hollins’ sideline moment.

I don’t know, Desmond. It looks a lot like it was directed toward you. You can’t fault the guy for trying to be a good leader. It’s something he has in spades; hopefully, the rest of his game can catch up.
