Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper has decided to fire head coach Frank Reich just 11 games into his tenure with the organization.

Unfortunately, Carolina started the season with a 1-10 record, with no real signs of improvement the past several weeks.

"I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not continue as head coach of the Carolina Panthers," Tepper released in a statement online. "I want to thank Frank for his dedication and service, and we wish him well."

The Panthers in Week 12 scored 15 or fewer points for the fifth consecutive week.

Quarterback Bryce Young ranks as the worst NFL signal-caller, based on his QBR ranking.

Last offseason, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson interviewed with the Panthers, but ultimately decided to return to Motown due to strong sense of having unfinished business with Detroit.

Now that the team has an opening, many believe Johnson could be a target once again.

According to NFL media, "It wouldn't be a surprise if they made a run at him, among others."

Detroit's talented offensive play-caller has repeatedly dodged questions pertaining to his future, as he has chosen to focus on his weekly preparation and trying to continue to improve the offense along with head coach Dan Campbell

It is expected Johnson will be the most coveted head coaching candidate this offseason, so it would be quite shocking if he ended up deciding to work for an owner that has lost respect amongst the NFL world due to his apparent need for involvement in the Panthers' football operations.

Currently, special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will serve as the Panthers interim coach, while Jim Caldwell will serve as a special assistant running the offense.
