Detroit Lions Star Has Unfollowed Team On Social Media

Well, that escalated quickly.

Not long after rumors surfaced that the Detroit Lions could be shopping one of their star players heading into Thursday's NFL Draft, wide receiver Jameson Williams appears to have unfollowed the team on social media.

Along with the messages "Loyalty b4 any n everything ❤️‍❤️‍" and "STAY SUCKA FREE " on his IG Story.

Of course the cryptic nature of the posts leaves some plausible deniability on Williams' part but it seems clear that the former No. 12 pick isn't happy with the stories that have been floating around in recent days.

Williams has been waiting for the Lions to pick up his fifth-year-option. Something that Detroit GM Brad Holmes had said was "likely" to happen following the annual league meetings.

"Look, it's heading that way that we are most likely going to be doing that," Holmes said at the time. "He was a tremendous player for us last year. He's still scratching the surface. I do think he's got more in him as well, so I just think it just makes sense for us to do what we can to keep him around."

The ex-Alabama star is coming off his best season yet after some early struggles to find a consistent role in Ben Johnson's offense.

In 2024, Williams posted career-highs across the board in receptions, yards and touchdowns and was No. 2 in the league in yards per catch.

There's certainly some value there for teams looking to add a deep threat on that side of the ball. And he'll likely have the added motivation of performing for a new contract on another team.

If the Lions do end up trading the 1,000-yard receiver, CBS Sports pegs the Bears, Raiders, Cowboys, Saints and Cardinals as potential trade targets.
