Devastating Brian Burns injury update emerges

The New York Giants just couldn’t catch a break on the injury front.

Already without quarterback Jaxson Dart for the rest of the 2026 NFL season at least, the Giants will also likely miss the services of star pass rusher Brian Burns until at least the start of the 2027 campaign.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Burns is believed to have torn an ACL during New York’s 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

This is a big blow for the Giants, who had just gotten their spirits lifted by the victory over Tennessee following the difficult news about Dart.

The 28-year-old Burns is off to a slow start to the season, with zero sacks after three weeks, but he’s clearly a huge part of New York’s stop unit. Last season, he earned his third Pro Bowl nod and finished with a career-high 16.5 sacks. Only then-Cleveland Browns superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett had more sacks than Burns, who signed a 5-year, $141 million contract extension with New York in 2024.

Burns suffered the injury in the fourth quarter. He only has four tackles through three weeks, but it’s worth noting that he also played through a low ankle sprain.

The Giants will look to address the void potentially left by Burns in the days leading up to their Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
