Devin White used two words to get his main point across when asked a question every free agent acquisition will be asked

Getting this new regime in the building that the Las Vegas Raiders have was one of the best decisions they could have made this offseason. Sure, it's still early and the season hasn't even started yet, but it feels much different than past regimes.

And yes, we have said that before about other regimes. But, this one, you can tell that they know how to build a winning franchise, because they did it before, whether it was with the Seattle Seahawks or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And, their moves reflect that so far -- well, most of their moves do.

And, better yet, the guy they left in charge of the roster building is making free agents want to come to Las Vegas. Sure, it's not some crazy big names, but they are guys that can help this football team win.

"John Spytek, number one," White said when asked why he chose Las Vegas in free agency. "We've got a great relationship. When I got drafted in '19, he took me out to dinner. In the process in Baton Rouge, he came down. We had a genuine relationship, myself, him, his kids, his family. They used to wear my jersey and everything. And just when I came here on a visit, it was the first visit that I decided to take, and Coach Pete [Carroll] was genuine, and I could see the camaraderie he had and what he believed in and what he wanted to do with this organization.

"I'm cool with being part of a build, and then when the success happens, I'll feel like I had a part in it. So, I mean we just hit it off. With PG [Patrick Graham], he sat me down, walked me through the defense, showed me how I could be used, and that was very big. Because if you've got good attributes, you want to be used to help the team, and that's what type of coach he is. And Coach JG [John Glenn] had a lot of energy, and playing for a guy like that, he makes you want to come to work."

Spytek helped draft White in Tampa so that connection is there. But one player letting everyone know that he is the reason he went to a certain team only helps bring in other players. Now, those other players will know that Spytek is a good dude, and really establishes connections rather than just acting as the GM, and handling business as business.

And, more situations like that will come when it comes to Spytek, and especially Pete Carroll, and the free agents that they attract. The two of them have been in the league for a long time, and they know a lot of people. They have built some really good relationships and are just good people.

That goes a long way.
