The Miami Dolphins found their way back into the win column with what could best be described as the team's most complete team victory in, well, quite a while. There were sustained scoring drives, Miami's defense was smothering in the run game, and the Dolphins found themselves winning the explosive play battle on both sides of the ball while posting a 34-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
One of the central figures in Miami's success should not come as a surprise — running back De'Von Achane is usually at the center of things when it's working offensively for the Dolphins. Achane, two and a half years into his NFL career, has joined an illustrious group of Dolphins while setting a franchise record in Week 8 against the Falcons.
De’Von Achane has 30 touchdowns faster than any Miami Dolphins player ever

He’s done it in just 36 games
Achane posted his 30th career touchdown in Miami's 34-10 victory over the Falcons — setting a franchise record for doing so in just his 36th career game with the team. We may be in Week 8 of his third season in the NFL but the fact that Achane missed some time as a rookie makes this mark that much more exceptional — he's posted 30 scores in just over the full allotment of two NFL seasons worth of games.
In doing so, he's become the fourteenth player in Dolphins history to achieve 30 total scores, breaking a tie with wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who may not get another chance to find the end zone and join the club while sitting on 29 career touchdowns in a Dolphins uniform.
Achane joins a who's who of franchise stars to post 30+ touchdowns during their Miami Dolphins careers:
The third-year running back is now firmly in the thick of Miami's elite of elite players. And the question isn't if his placement is earned but is instead 'how high on this list can he get in 2025?' Achane is pacing for 15 touchdowns this season, which would give him 8 more on the year and tie him with Ronnie Brown for seventh-place all-time in franchise history should he keep up the scoring. And that's through just three years of his rookie contract. With similar production in the next year and a half worth of games, Achane could feasibly be hitting the end of his rookie contract while pushing 50 touchdowns.
Trade rumors be damned. Miami needs to start getting into the business of retaining their in-house talent once it hits. Achane, who is eligible for a contract extension at the end of the season, may not see that effort early on amid the uncertainty around the football operation. But he's got a year and a half left to make his resume undeniable for the Dolphins to retain — and setting records is a good start to that effort. But for now, Miami simply needs him to continue to be the engine of the offense as this team tries to claw back from the brink.
