Multiple former Dallas Cowboys are one step closer to reaching football immortality following the latest news around the college football world but there's still a long way to go before they get there.

That's because Dez Bryant and Kellen Moore are part of a long list players on the 2026 ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame. Other former Cowboys on the list include Greg Ellis, Randall Cobb, and Terence Newman.

Per the College Football Hall of Fame's website, players become eligible for consideration 10 full seasons after they last played college football. Once players are included on the ballot, they do not need to be re-nominated but need to go through the voting process every year to make it back to the ballot. In 2025, voters will elect 12 of 79 players on the ballot.

Speaking of which, this will be Moore's fifth year on it, which is wild considering he became the first quarterback in FBS history to reach 46 career wins. He was also a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2010 and he earned three conference Player of the Year honors. Many consider he should've been inducted a long time ago, we'll see if the fifth time is the charm.

As for Dez, the path might be trickier but his collegiate resume is strong. He was a 2008 First Team All-American and finalist for the Biletnikoff Award (best WR). He led the Big 12 in scoring with 126 points in 2008 after a remarkable year on offense and special teams.

Per the National Football Foundation's chairman Archie Manning, "The announcement of the 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will be made in January 2026, with specific details to be announced in the future.

"During the 2026 season, each member of the NFF Hall of Fame Class will be honored on the field at his respective school with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments. The formal induction ceremony will follow on Dec. 8, 2026, during the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas."
