The Dallas Cowboys dropped a 27-20 game to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football at AT&T Stadium as fans looked on in frustration over a mistake that will likely go down in football infamy.
The Cowboys blocked a Cincinnati punt just after the two-minute warning that resulted in the Bengals retaining possession and eventually running out the clock for a big late season win.
Cowboys cornerback Amani Oruwariye attempted to recover the blocked punt only to touch the ball without recovering it, ceding possession to Cincinnati.
The Cowboys' playoff hopes are now on life support as they fell to 5-8 on the season, the same record as Bengals QB Joe Burrow's team in the AFC West.
Legendary Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant shared a take on Oruwariye as the action unfolded, revealing his unfiltered thoughts on what he thinks could happen next.
"27 might get cut," Bryant wrote on his X account. "I just saw the play on the punt return play! Smh."
"Never wanna see a guy get cut but come on man. Know the situation. Crazy that he touched that ball," one fan said on X in response to Bryant's post.
"Sad thing is he just got activated this week...Tough break," another reader added.
"Horrible. 100% cost the Cowboys that game!" another fan added.
The Cowboys will hit the road this coming Sunday to take on Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers next in hopes of getting back on the winning track against a struggling NFC South team.
