Did Cooper Kupp consider retiring after Seahawks Super Bowl?

A handful of NFL legends have had the opportunity to go out on top during the final year of their careers with a Super Bowl win.

Some had speculated that may have been the case for Cooper Kupp who played a key role for the Seattle Seahawks during its run to another championship last season.

However the 32-year-old is back at the facilities preparing for the 2026 season and addressed if riding off into the sunset ever crossed his mind while hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

“No, never for a second,” Kupp said Thursday according to NFL.com. “I’m loving playing this game too much. I love playing football, so I’m enjoying it. That was never a thought.”

While playing for his hometown team, Kupp put up a modest 47 receptions for 593 yards and two touchdowns. Fellow wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba took up much of the oxygen in terms of the production, but Kupp was able to contribute defeating the Los Angeles Rams, his previous home, in the NFC title game.

He would also lead Seattle in receptions and receiving yards in the 29-13 win over the New England Patriots with six catches for 61 yards.

The performance itself wasn’t enough for Kupp to hang things up. In fact, he is looking more towards pursuing another great season with fall.

“There’s moments of reflection, right?” Kupp said. “There’s moments of understanding when you see these banners, there’s a story and a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind each of them. So, there’s a respect for what went into those things and what those stand for, and the journey that they stand for, the hardships that were overcome.

“But also, at the end of that moment of reflection is the period at the end that says, ‘Well, now what?’ Yeah, that’s what it took. This is what that was and now you’re in it and you’re moving forward, and there’s an opportunity to go and be a part of another one.”
