Did Tom Brady confirm he's staying retired from playing?

It sure sounds like quarterback Tom Brady is committed to staying retired from playing in the NFL this time around.

"There's a lot of blood, sweat and tears and being out there in a hundred-degree heat in Miami, and it's hard in Tampa when you got helmets and shoulder pads on," Brady explained during Monday's edition of his "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast, as shared by Liz Roscher of Yahoo Sports. "And I am very excited to never put on a helmet again. I did enough years of that and putting that six-pound helmet on your head in 102-degree heat, believe me, I'm not ever gonna miss that."

Brady initially retired in February 2022 but ultimately returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for another season. The seven-time Super Bowl champion then played while banged up throughout the fall, often appeared past his physical prime and also dealt with off-the-field distractions related to his divorce from Gisele Bündchen after 13 years of marriage. He retired "for good" this past February.

Nevertheless, members of the NFL community and even some Las Vegas Raiders players have speculated Brady could potentially sign with that club as a free agent, in part because he reached an agreement to become a limited partner of the franchise.

The 46-year-old seemed to pour cold water over such suggestions late in the spring, and he again indicated on Monday he won't be playing competitive football for the first time in over three decades.

"Thirty-two years, man," Brady commented during the show segment, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "Thirty-two years. High school, college, and then obviously 20 years (with the New England Patriots)."

Brady is preparing to become Fox's lead NFL analyst in 2024 and will be honored as part of Sunday's Week 1 game between the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles held at Gillette Stadium. The future Hall of Famer has a history of changing his mind about his playing days, but it appears he's taken his final snap as an active NFL star.
