'Difference Vibe' At Jets Rookie Camp With New Star

The new regime for the New York Jets under Aaron Glenn is off and running, with the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator looking to hit the ground running.

With rookie mini-camp now underway, the coaching staff is getting their first look at players in the classroom and on the field as they look to get them up to speed on how Glenn wants both sides of the ball to play.

All eyes were on first-round pick Armand Membou, who has been slated to play right tackle with the offensive line seen as one of the better units in football with his addition.

For ESPN's Rich Cimini, there is a whole different feel to Jets camp this offseason, with Membou in particular catching the eye.

"Definitely a different vibe under Aaron Glenn than the previous staff," Cimini wrote. "Practices were more intense, and everyone participated, including draft picks. Previously, the draft picks were held out to prevent injuries.

"Armand Membou (first round) took reps at RT. The first thing you notice is his quick feet. He moves like a big LB. Glenn: "He's nasty, man." With all linemen, you need to see them in pads before you break out the anointing oils (Parcells-ism)."

So Membou has made a good first impression under Glenn, and yes, it is only early, but that is a good sign.

When a team uses a first-round pick on a player, that comes with certain expectations, and it's clear Armand has met them, at least in the early days.

It will be an interesting watch as the offseason goes on and the veterans mix in as we get to see Glenn's vision for his team come to light as he looks to turn this embattled ship around.

And having a "different vibe" is a good way to start.
