The future of the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation has been of great interest.

During the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Brown surprised everyone by drafting two quarterbacks. One of the two rookies that the Browns went with was Dillon Gabriel.

Gabriel was able to play six games as the Browns’ starter from week 5. His debut season was soon cut short due to a concussion in week 11, a 23-16 loss against the Baltimore Ravens. He was eventually benched for the rest of the season.

Gabriel has not spoken publicly since then. However, at a recent three-day veteran minicamp that kicked off on April 21, he took the opportunity to share his thoughts.

“I don’t think it’s ever easy. But you just wanna keep staying the course, trusting God’s plan. Ultimately, you gotta run your own race,” he told the media.

The former First-team All-American and Big 10 MVP of 2024 has made it clear that he is taking it one day at a time.

In 10 games, Gabriel scored 7 touchdowns for 937 passing yards, while throwing 2 interceptions and conceding 19 sacks. After he was ruled out due to a concussion, another rookie, Shedeur Sanders, took his place.

He started 7 games and scored 7 touchdowns for 1,400 yards. He is currently in the prime position to become the QB1 for the Browns in the upcoming season.

The question now remains if Dillon Gabriel can prove his worth to the Browns and continue with them for the long-term.

Dillon Gabriel’s Future With The Browns For The 2026 NFL Season

Dillon Gabriel is focused on running his own race.

The Browns’ new HC, Todd Monken, told the media that the team set things up in such a way that they could get a look at all three quarterbacks.

However, he also mentioned that Sanders and Watson got the most work done with the first team.

“I am focused on what I can control and that’s mastering my reps and doing it at a high level”, said Gabriel to the media at the minicamp.

The Browns also haven’t ruled out adding another QB during the upcoming NFL Draft.

Gabriel is aware that he’s not the top contender at the moment and could lose his position. He may have to continue his career in some other team if an opportunity comes knocking. In the meantime, he’s doing all it takes to stay focused on the game.
