NFL star Kris Boyd faces a lengthy road to recovery following his traumatic shooting last year.
A man accused of shooting the New York Jets’ cornerback got some bad news in court this week. Frederick Green has been indicted on multiple charges, including attempted murder. In all, the 20-year-old was indicted on charges of attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Boyd is lucky to be alive. He was shot in the stomach outside Asian fusion restaurant Sei Less, which left him in critical condition. He was with other Jets players when a group began to “chirp” at his crew about their outfits. Boyd’s group entered the restaurant but soon left, as the “vibe” was off. That same group met them outside, and a fight would break out. Footage showed punches being thrown before shots rang out.
Kris Boyd was left on the ground fighting for his life. Frederick Green escaped in a vehicle and went on the run. His freedom wouldn’t last long despite his cutting his hair and fleeing the state. He fled to Buffalo, where he hid out at a female acquaintance’s apartment.
Green also deactivated his social media accounts. Police eventually tracked a gray Mercedes registered to his girlfriend, and he was found at that Buffalo apartment.
In the meantime, Boyd was originally released from the hospital, but had to be rushed back due to “health issues.” Things have not exactly gotten better for him. The NFL star is still said to be suffering with ‘complications’ two months later.
A fragment of the bullet entered Boyd’s vein and was lodged in his pulmonary artery before entering one of his lungs. ‘He continues to deal with complications from these injuries,’ a press release claimed.
“He had surgery a few weeks ago. As of less than a week ago, my information is he is still in the hospital,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Shilpa Kalra said of Kris Boyd.
Prior to the Kris Boyd shooting, Green was already a career criminal. He has four prior busts on his record, but much of it is sealed.
We can only hope and pray that Boyd’s health gets better.
