DK Metcalf Reveals New Jersey Number With Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a splash early on in the NFL offseason by trading for star wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. In return, the Steelers sent a 2025 second-round pick, and ended up signing Metcalf to a new, five-year, $150 million deal in Pittsburgh.

While Metcalf is an incredible athlete and a dynamic receiver, one of the main storylines surrounding this trade was how he would mesh with current Steelers' WR George Pickens, who has been polarizing so far throughout his career.

More than just their relationship together as teammates, fans wondered who would win the battle for the jersey number, as both players wore No. 14.

On Thursday, it appears that has finally been decided.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it will be Metcalf who changes numbers, switching from No. 14 to No. 4, while Pickens stays with the digits that he has had throughout his time in Pittsburgh.

It was probable a tough number for Metcalf to give up, seeing as he wore No. 14 during his college career at Ole Miss. Meanwhile, Pickens wore No. 1 in his college years with the Georgia Bulldogs.

One of the other major questions surrounding this trade and addition of Metcalf in Pittsburgh is who will be throwing him the ball. After a year of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at quarterback, the Steelers seem to be moving in a new direction, and there is some buzz that former New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers will be the next guy in Steel City. There is also a chance that they bring back Wilson for another year as well.

The QB spot will likely be filled in the coming days, but for now at least we know which number the two star pass-catchers will be wearing.
