NFL fans were given quite a shock this week when ESPN analyst and Hall of Fame wideout Randy Moss revealed that he's battling a health condition that's causing him to have yellow eyes. He has not revealed what the condition is, but one doctor has a pretty good idea.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, New Jersey-based optometrist Dr. James Dello Russo theorized that Moss clearly has jaundice, a yellowing of the whites of his eyes, which is a common symptom of cirrhosis - damage to the liver. As to what underlying condition may have caused the cirrhosis, Russo could only speculate.
"Randy does not specify what sort of internal condition he has, which means we can only speculate as to what it could be," he said."It is difficult to tell what he has beyond jaundice, which isn't really a condition but more just a description of a yellowing of the whites of the eyes."

Some possibilities include Hepatitis B or C, alcohol damage, or - most seriously - liver cancer. Other health issues still on the table are liver disease, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, or thyroid issues. Russo said that if Moss is dealing with hepatitis, Moss he could be cured and recover fairly quickly - possibly within a month.
"If it is hepatitis, we do have a cure for that — so he can get better and pretty quickly, within a month, get over that... The liver can heal with medical management, amazingly, which may be able to reverse what's causing the yellowing of the eyes."
Russo wouldn't speculate on the possibilities if Moss is dealing with either alcohol damage to his liver or cancer.
Randy Moss is widely considered one of the greatest wide receivers of all-time with many saying that only the great Jerry Rice surpasses him in terms of all-around greatness at the wide receiver position.
Moss led the NFL in receiving touchdowns five times and retired with 156 receiving touchdowns - second only to Rice in NFL history.
He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
We all hope that Moss gets well soon.
