The Dallas Cowboys made a move to bolster their defense. They were outbid at the last second in the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes, so they had to pivot to a lesser-known player.
Once again, they acquired a former Green Bay Packers DL by sending a future Day 3 pick to get Rashan Gary.
So, now that they've all but ruled themselves out of contention to sign Trey Hendrickson, it should be just a matter of time before he's a New England Patriot.
Not many teams have the financial wiggle room and the need for help in the pass rush department to make a run at Hendrickson.
Of all of the teams that could do that, the Patriots make the most sense for the former Cincinnati Bengals star.
Granted, he's 31 years old and missed 10 games last season, but he combined for 35 sacks in the previous two campaigns, and he's the most prominent pass rusher left in free agency at this point.
Edge K'Lavon Chaisson will be a free agent, and even though Hendrickson only managed to get 4.0 sacks last season, that would've been good enough for third on Mike Vrabel's team.
The 14-3 Patriots are clearly ahead of schedule, but they need a couple of proven veterans on both sides of the field to get back to the big game.
And even with Hendrickson entering the back end of his prime, they have to pull the trigger now.
