Does Pro Bowl DT Jeffery Simmons have a future in Tennessee?

Fourth-year defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has been a standout on the Tennessee Titans' defensive line this season. With 5.5 sacks and 26 tackles through seven games, Simmons is already on pace to surpass his Pro Bowl numbers from a year ago.

However, there is speculation about the 25-year-old's future in Tennessee.

Eligible for free agency at the end of the year, Simmons told The Athletic's Dan Pompei that he discussed a contract extension with the team this offseason but never received an offer.

"The Titans were like, 'We don't know if we're going to be able to offer you want you think you are worth," Simmons said. "'We want to pay you, but we don't know where it's going to come from.'"

While his offseason conversation with the team doesn't paint the rosiest picture for future talks, Simmons dismissed the idea that he was unhappy in Tennessee.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, Simmons said he loved the organization and his teammates and was focused only on winning, not a contract.

The Titans selected Simmons with the No. 19 overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State. In four seasons with the Titans, Simmons has compiled 161 tackles, 19 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 48 games.
