Sunday's scary hit on Grant DuBose rocked the NFL world but it sounds like the Miami Dolphins receiver is in a positive road to recovery.
DuBose left the field on a stretcher with his helmet removed and his jersey cut off after taking a crushing blow to the head from a Texans defender.
The 23-year-old remained down for several minutes while the team's medical staff tended to him before eventually wheeling him off.
On Monday, the Dolphins shared an update on DuBose's status. Noting that he has movement in all of his extremities and is was kept in the hospital overnight for precautionary reasons.
"After sustaining a head injury in yesterday's game, Grant DuBose remained at a local Houston hospital for evaluation overnight. He has movement in all extremities and initial tests have revealed positive results," the team said. "He remains under the care of doctors for continued observation."
The hit took place on a pass over the middle in the third quarter as the Miami trailed 20-6. DuBose was contacted immediately as the ball arrived and his body visibly tensed up while flags flew onto the field.
After the game, Texans safety Calen Bullock was asked about the play and he said it wasn't intentional and sent his best to DuBose and his loved ones.
"My intention was never to go out there and hurt nobody," Bullock explained. "That's none of our intention. Prayer to him and his family. I hope he's good. I just seeing the ball and I was just breaking on the ball. It just happened to be one of those types of plays."
DuBose appeared in three games for the Dolphins this season after being claimed off waivers by the team in August.
