Dolphins' Brian Flores: 'Something's wrong' if Chiefs' Eric Bieniemy is 'not a head coach here soon'

Brian Flores was named head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2019, but the organization also interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

The Dolphins are set to face the Chiefs this weekend, and that had Flores talking about Bieniemy, whom he believes should have already been given a head coaching gig.

“If EB’s not a head coach here soon, something’s wrong,” Flores said, according to Pro Football Talk.

Bieniemy is considered one of the best available head coaching candidates. He consistently has the Chiefs offense firing on all cylinders and certainly could help any team currently searching for a new coach.

The Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans and Detroit Lions will be looking for a new coach during the offseason. The New York Jets also could be in the market for a new boss if they decide to fire Adam Gase, who has yet to lead the team to a win this season.

It was reported by Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline that Bieniemy is a strong candidate for the Texans coaching job, particularly because he would mesh well with star quarterback Deshaun Watson. Pauline also reported that he could end up with the Falcons.

However, Pauline also says that Bieniemy didn't interview well during head coaching searches in 2019, which resulted in him being passed on. It's hard to imagine any team would pass on him come 2021, but anything is possible.
