When the Miami Dolphins are healthy, they'll have one of the best edge rushing groups in the NFL. With Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, and Chop Robinson, Miami's 2024 first-round pick, there's reason to believe the Dolphins could be in a decent position on the defensive side of the football next year.
The Dolphins' defense was above average for much of the 2024 season, despite the injuries they dealt with to Chubb and Phillips.
When speaking to reporters about what the Dolphins defense will look like next year with all three of them potentially healthy, Robinson told David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel and other reporters that he's excited, and the three of them on the field together at the same time could cause confusion for opposing offenses.
“I’m super excited. Just imagining the three of us on the field at the same time,” Robinson said, “or just me and JP, or JP and Chubb at the same time. It’s kind of hard for tackles to (say), ‘All right, you’ve got to study JP, you’ve got to study Chubb, you’ve got to study me.’
“And if we’re all on the field at the same time, it (can) kind of mess up the offense’s mind because they wouldn’t know what to do.”
There are some question marks in this scenario. Phillips is coming off another tough injury. Robinson is hopeful to take another leap after impressing in his rookie season. Chubb, however, perhaps more than the others, will have to show he can be on the field and dominate.
However, if everything goes as well as it can, Miami should be in an excellent position on that front.
