The Miami Dolphins drafted edge rusher Chop Robinson in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Penn State. After lighting it up in college, Robinson played in all 17 games his rookie year in Miami and collected six sacks.
Robinson demonstrated through his rookie year why he was the 21st overall pick. He collected 26 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits, and even defended four passes.
After an impressive rookie season, the Dolphins' young edge rusher is only continuing to improve this offseason. He's already caught the eye of free agent addition Willie Gay Jr.
"I don't mean too get in too deep into it, like I don't even know who the starters are at the edge position," Gay said (h/t CBS News). "But Chop is the youngest and like, (expletive), excuse me, you know what I mean, like he's a dog."

Dolphins' edge rushing duo Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips both missed last year with injuries. Chubb missed the entire season, and Phillips played in just four games. That allowed Robinson to get snaps on every down.
Now, the edge rushing trio looks healthy and ready to dominate in 2025. With Phillips and Chubb dealing with injuries the last couple of seasons and Robinson being a rookie last year, the trio hasn't had the chance to play together yet. However, Chubb's excited to be on the field with the young star.
"He's lights out, man. And his motor, the way he bends his edge, the way he could play the run," Chubb said (h/t CBS News). "I know a lot of people, some people in here say he couldn't play the run, but you know, the way he does that is nothing sort of phenomenal, man. I'm excited to see him keep growing."

Robinson dominated in college at Penn State, and he showed that he has the ability to do that in the NFL throughout his rookie year. Phillips believes he'll be the best player in the league one day.
"I truly feel like Chop is going to be one of the best players in the league, very soon. I think he already is supremely talented," Phillips said (h/t CBS News). "But, you know, the more comfortable he gets, the more confident he gets in everything he's doing. I think he's, you know, a future defensive player of the year candidate."
From his fellow stars at the edge rusher position to other pass rushers on the team that get to watch him work every day, Robinson has left an impression on all his teammates.
"(Chop's) a different breed. The way he moves, his get off, how low he runs to the ground," fellow pass rusher Quinton Bell said (h/t Dolphins Wire). "I see Chop having another breakout year just like he had a great year last year. But I think he is going to take it to a whole another level. His work ethic, the way he approaches practice every day. You wouldn't have even thought he was a rookie last year. So I'm super proud of him and his growth."
From the defensive side of the ball to the offense, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has also been impressed with the young pass rusher. Tagovailoa said Robinson is growing up, becoming stronger and faster, and if that's the case, a scary sight is on the horizon for opposing offenses.
The Dolphins' rising star had a very strong rookie season and is looking to get even better in 2025. He's put 2024 in the rear-view mirror and is listening to his coach by focusing on what's ahead this year.
"I mean, once the last game ended and we didn't make the playoffs, I forgot all about that year. I didn't pay no more attention to it. I was happy about it, but it's year two now," Robinson said (h/t CBS News). "Just live up to the standard and just take one day at a time and just push forward, keep running. That's it."
