Dolphins Claim CB JuJu Brents; Only Waiver Claim for Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have claimed CB Julius Brents (who goes by the nickname JuJu) off the waiver wire.
Brents is 25 years old and was a 2nd round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by Indy.
Brents has played in 11 games, started nine in his career, and has one interception and one forced fumble.
In 2024 with the Colts, Brents only played in two games, and he started one.
He was placed on IR on September 10th with a knee injury and that ended his season.
Brents played with the Colts in 2023 and 2024.

In 2023, when Brents played in nine games and started 8, his PFF numbers were very good.
He had an overall grade of 63.2, ranking him 109th of 229 cornerbacks.
His coverage grade that year was 64.5, and he ranked 94th out of 229 cornerbacks.
In Miami, Brents will have a golden opportunity to get playing time in a very young and inexperienced Dolphins secondary.
Outside of Rasul Douglas, who just signed yesterday, every other cornerback on Miami’s roster is extremely young and inexperienced.
If Brents can find the form he had in his rookie season and before his knee injury last season, he should be a contributor and one of the top four cornerbacks on Miami’s roster this season.
This Miami secondary still needs work, and I would not be shocked if, after Week 1 of the regular season, when contracts are no longer fully guaranteed if you sign with a team, we see the Dolphins add a veteran safety and a veteran cornerback.
With the news that Cam Smith is going on NFI today and there is no timeframe for his return, and questions about whether he will ever return, I expect the Dolphins to continue looking for quality cornerbacks to add to this roster.
None of the players Miami cut on Monday and Tuesday were claimed by another team.
