Dolphins Claim Jamree Kromah, Waive Rob Beal Jr.

The Miami Dolphins continue to make roster changes as they prepare for Sunday’s AFC East matchup against the New England Patriots.

On Friday, the Dolphins announced they claimed EDGE rusher Jamree Kromah off waivers from the Chicago Bears and waived EDGE rusher Rob Beal Jr. as part of the move.

The transaction gives Miami another young defensive player to evaluate as the organization continues searching for depth and potential contributors along its defensive front.

Kromah, 26, originally entered the NFL in 2024 as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears. The 6-foot-3, 268-pound defensive lineman played college football at Rutgers and James Madison before moving to the professional level.

During his collegiate career, Kromah appeared in 46 games with 16 starts, recording 98 tackles, 15 sacks, 28.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Kromah has spent much of his professional career developing on practice squads, including time with Chicago and New England.

This season, he appeared in two games for the Bears, recording two solo tackles and one tackle for loss. Although his NFL experience remains limited, his college production suggests he can disrupt opposing backfields.

Chicago waived Kromah on Thursday after acquiring defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans.

Dolphins Continue Searching for Defensive Line Depth

For Miami, adding Kromah is another attempt to strengthen a defensive front that has at times struggled to generate consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

The Dolphins have been evaluating several defensive linemen this season, and Kromah will now have the chance to show what he can bring.

With Chop Robinson and Josh Uche among Miami’s primary edge options, Kromah is expected to compete for a rotational role and add depth.

The move also fits the Dolphins’ approach of evaluating younger players who could become part of the team’s future.

Miami Moves On From Rob Beal Jr.

To make room for Kromah, Miami waived Rob Beal Jr., a former fifth-round selection of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Beal played his college football at Georgia, where he helped the Bulldogs capture back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022.

The defensive end appeared in 26 career NFL games with one start during his time with San Francisco and Miami. According to the Dolphins, he has recorded 25 tackles, one sack, and 12 special teams tackles during his professional career.

Beal’s opportunities with Miami were limited this season, and injuries also impacted his availability.

It remains to be seen whether the Dolphins will attempt to bring Beal back to their practice squad if he clears waivers.

What Does This Mean for Miami?

While this transaction is unlikely to dramatically change the Dolphins’ defensive outlook, it provides the coaching staff with another player to evaluate.

Miami is coming off its first 2026 win against the New York Jets and will look to build momentum when it faces New England on Sunday.

It remains uncertain whether Kromah can make an immediate impact, especially with the limited time he has to learn Miami’s defensive system.

However, for a rebuilding Dolphins team, these roster moves offer chances to identify potential contributors for the rest of the season and beyond.

Kromah now gets his chance to prove he belongs in Miami.
