Dolphins Clearly Outmatched

The loss, again to a playoff team in the cold, was not as terrible as the final score indicated.

In the first half, that is.

Yet it was tough to watch.

The Miami Dolphins players fought to win and did not give up.

In the first half, that is.

I do not intend to be repetitive, but we have watched this movie all season.

Of course, we had the typical Mike McDaniels’ bonehead call to go for a play action pass at the eight-yard line on a fourth and two feet.

On their opening drive, when the Dolphins could and should have pulled to a 14-7 score.

We are very accustomed to that.

And the Dolphins fail again, miserably, to show up in the second half of games.

Something must give, and it is not only the firing of General Manager Chris Grier.

And the tardy benching of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Coach Mike McDaniel must go.

Tomorrow, on Black Monday.

Please, Mr. Ross, fire McDaniel.

He is not a high-caliber head coach.

At best, he is a mediocre offensive coordinator.

And it is excusable for the rookie Quinn Ewers to throw an interception in the red zone while missing two wide-open receivers in the process.

Ewers is a rookie, starting his third NFL game.

Rookie quarterbacks make mistakes.

Ewers shows a lot of promise under whoever Ross hires as the new GM and hopefully the new head coach.

Ewers deserves a chance.

But under a new head coach and a new General Manager who can surround him with more talented players.

The changes will take time.

Maybe after the 2026 season, when the contract mistakes of the past will finally begin to expire.

Thank God this season has ended.

But, as sad as this season has been, I will miss seeing my Dolphins until next training camp.
