Dolphins Coach Reveals What Team is Looking for From Zach Wilson

The Miami Dolphins signing Zach Wilson made some sense.

When Wilson was drafted by the New York Jets with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the hope was for him to be their franchise quarterback.

Instead, just as it's gone many times for New York, it didn't work out for either side. That might reflect on Wilson, the Jets organization, or both.

Regardless, it hasn't been like he's found much success at the NFL level, and that was evident during last season, when he didn't win a spot over a rookie quarterback in Denver with Bo Nix.

Despite the uncertainties around his career, the Dolphins seem happy to have him. That includes Dolphins quarterback coach Darrell Bevell, who believes Wilson has the talent to succeed at this level.

He added that he didn't get picked second overall for no reason, citing that there are just some things he needs to work through, and the Dolphins are hopeful that he can make those adjustments.

"He has the talent," Bevell said, per KSL. "He didn't get picked there for no reason, right? So he definitely has the talent. And we're just trying to, from my eyes, make corrections that we want to, that will help fit into our offense. And then once we get to take the next step against defenses, then we'll be able to continue no more.”

Throughout his career, Wilson has been a polarizing player.

There have been parts where he looks decent, but as a whole, it's been below average, throwing for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.

He's also completed just 57% of his passes.
