Dolphins Find Themselves Ranked Dead-Last in ESPN’s latest NFL Power Rankings
The incredibly talented folks at ESPN published their newest iteration of the NFL power rankings earlier this week, and Miami Dolphins fans aren’t going to like where their team is ranked at all.
Of the league’s 32 teams, the Dolphins find themselves in dead-last after ESPN had them slotted at the No. 29 spot in their way-too-early rankings. They’re at the very bottom of the barrel at this juncture, with around two weeks removed from the 2026 NFL Draft.
Fans shouldn’t be too discouraged about Miami’s current ranking from ESPN’s experts, though, as the team still has plenty of time to make some moves to improve its roster before 2026. However, the Dolphins being ranked as bottom-feeders does highlight just how many areas for improvement they have and how far away they are from being true contenders in the AFC.
Miami is headed towards a full-on rebuild in 2026 after it spent the last several months getting rid of staples of the Mike McDaniel era. McDaniel — of course — is with the team no longer, but the same goes for general manager Chris Grier, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wide receivers Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, and linebacker Bradley Chubb.
Couple the difficulty of the Dolphins’ schedule in 2026 with all the talented veterans they lost this offseason, and they could be in for even more of a trying season than the 7-10 campaign they’re on the heels of. Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis calculated recently that Miami’s strength of schedule next season is the second-toughest in the NFL.
The fact that the Dolphins are expected to be one of the worst teams in the league next season notwithstanding, there will be plenty of fun storylines for fans of the team to follow, regardless. Maybe chief among them are how Jeff Hafley fares in his maiden season as head coach and whether Malik Willis can be a great starter at the highest level.
