Dolphins GM makes Comments Regarding Jordyn Brooks Amid Trade Rumors
Seemingly, no highly talented Miami Dolphins player has been spared from trade rumors in recent months, and linebacker Jordyn Brooks is no exception. He’s been linked to the Dallas Cowboys lately, but comments from general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan don’t imply he’s looking to move Brooks imminently.
The brand new general manager of the Dolphins said he would like the First-Team All-Pro talent to “be a pillar on the defensive side of the ball” for Miami and also called Brooks a “very good player.”
Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan on LB Jordyn Brooks: "He's a very good player. He's made of the right kind of stuff. And we'd like him to be a pillar on the defensive side of the ball for us as we build this out."

Brooks, a six-year player and former first-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks, was a defensive menace for the Dolphins in 2025. He ended up as the NFL’s leader in combined tackles (183) along with solo tackles (99) and put together one of the best single defensive showings of any Dolphin ever versus the New York Jets on Sept. 29.
By the end of the contest, Brooks finished with an unbelievable 15 solo tackles, setting a franchise record for the most tackles by any one player in a game. Unfortunately, Tyreek Hill went down with a season-ending injury in the same game and marred the win for Brooks and the Dolphins, and that might be why his performance on that day might not be brought up as much as it should.
It makes all the sense in the world to keep Brooks in the fold, but if Miami does the unexpected and moves on from him soon, it would probably be because there are questions about him fitting the team’s winning timeline. He’s pushing 30 and will be 29 in October, and the Dolphins traded a younger star in Jaylen Waddle just recently. Waddle is 27 years old.
Even if most signs point to him sticking around for now, Brooks’ future will likely be one of the biggest talking points surrounding the Dolphins in the weeks (and potentially months) to come, just because all of the wheeling and dealing they’ve done this offseason, and fans should anticipate seeing him in more trade rumblings.
