Dolphins GM Puts Kibosh on De’Von Achane Rumblings
However, anyone worried that De’Von Achane could be the next star to leave the Dolphins can now breathe a sigh of relief.
New general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan cleared the air on Miami’s intentions regarding the 24-year-old on Wednesday. He not only said that the third-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft is “not available” via trade, but also that extension talks between Achane and the Dolphins are trending in the right direction.
GM Sullivan just now: Achane is "not available for trade." .. On a contract extension: "We've had positive conversations, trending in right direction" past couple days.

The Dolphins are probably making the right choice in keeping Achane off the trade market in light of the 2025 season he just enjoyed. He truly broke out and emerged as one of the NFL’s elite running backs in his third NFL campaign after showing so much promise as a rookie and sophomore.
He ranked tops among all qualified players in the league in rushing yards per attempt with 5.7, and also finished in the top five in football in total rushing yards. Achane tallied a career-high 1,350 yards across 16 starts.
But what makes him particularly worthy of keeping in the fold and extending is his unique dual-threat ability. Frankly, he put up better receiving numbers than a whole lot of wideouts did last season, accumulating 488 yards across 67 receptions.
Achane is on track to be one of the NFL’s premier offensive talents for years to come, and it would be in the Dolphins’ best interest both in the short and long term to ink him to a long-term deal.
