Dolphins Hire Brock Olivo as Assistant Special Teams Coordinator

Jeff Hafley is putting the finishing touches on his coaching staff, and on Monday, he hired Brock Olivo as the assistant special teams coordinator who will work under Chris Tabor.

Olivo is a former player who was an undrafted running back who signed with the Detroit Lions. He was the leader of the Lions’ special teams for 4 years, leading their league-leading unit in tackles 2 of those 4 years.

After his playing career, he began his coaching career in the Italian Football League. First as an offensive coordinator and special teams coordinator, and then as a head coach for three seasons.

He then moved back to the States and was an assistant special teams coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears.

In 2017, he was the special teams coordinator for the Denver Broncos.

Since 2003, he has been a special teams analyst for the University of Missouri.

When Chris Tabor, the new Miami Dolphins special teams coordinator with the Chicago Bears, Olivo was his assistant special teams coordinator for two of those seasons.

Which is likely how his hiring in Miami came to pass.

Olivo, in an infamous interview when he was hired by the Broncos, said he believes in the K.I.L.L theory of coaching. Which stands for “Keep It Likable and Learnable.”
