Dolphins in a Wise Decision Don’t Name Tyreek Hill a Team Captain

The Miami Dolphins announced their team captains on Monday morning, and in a wise decision, Tyreek Hill wasn’t one of them.

This is the first time since Hill joined Miami that he hasn’t been named a captain.

Hill quit in the middle of the week 18 game vs the NY Jets last season, and walked off the field refusing to go back in.

After the game, he questioned if he wanted to still be in Miami, and then had a slew of off-the-field issues.

If Miami had named Hill a team captain, it would have sent the wrong message to the team, fans, and the entire NFL world.

Does being a team captain matter in the big picture of anything? NO!

But you cannot name a guy who quit in the middle of a game and said he may want out of the organization he plays for.

If Miami did, they would have been the laughingstock of the entire league.

Not to mention, should a team captain have a pending court/trial date set for the middle of the upcoming season?

Tyreek Hill does!

Another reason is to avoid the headache and not have him be a captain.

The Dolphins’ captains are Alec Ingold, Aaron Brewer, Jordyn Brooks, Tua Tagovalioa, Zach Sieler, and Bradley Chubb.

Culture and leadership have been a huge talking point this offseason for the Dolphins organization.

Not from the fans and media, but from the front office, coaching staff, and players themselves.

Everyone has said the culture and way business is operated had to change and improve.

The word that has repeatedly come up is accountability, and I think not naming Tyreek Hill a captain is a good step in the right direction for having accountability.

Do things the right way, stay out of trouble, watch what you say, or there will be consequences and you will be held accountable.

Actions speak louder than words, and today the Dolphins organization’s actions speak volumes.
