Dolphins Lose Another Cornerback to Season Ending Injury

The Miami Dolphins have had serious bad luck in the secondary to start training camp.

After losing cornerback Artie Burns to an ACL tear last week, fourth-year defensive back Kader Kohou suffered the same injury in practice and will miss the entire 2025 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Miami's entire starting secondary from the 2024 campaign is gone, with cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Kendall Fuller traded and released, Kohou out for the season with an injury, and safeties Jevon Holland and Jordan Poyer departing via free agency.

Kohou was productive for the Dolphins last season, snagging two interceptions, eight passes defended, and a forced fumble.

The blow comes at a tough time for the Texas A&M-Commerce product, who was returning to Miami as a restricted free agent and was set to enter this season as a leader in the Dolphins' secondary surrounded by young players.

Even before the injury, general manager Chris Grier had been adding to Miami's cornerback room, bringing in veteran defensive backs Jack Jones and Mike Hilton. The Dolphins will be leaning on them to stabilize the backend of their defense.

Minkah Fitzpatrick will look to hold things down at safety. Still, even that position hasn't been safe from injury luck, as free agent acquisition Ashtyn Davis also went down at practice yesterday with a lower leg injury. Luckily, Davis seems to have ducked a serious injury and should return to practice in the coming weeks.

Expect Miami to turn again to the veteran cornerback market, with names such as James Bradberry, Stephon Gilmore, Rasul Douglas, and Asante Samuel Jr. still available.
