Dolphins Make Huge Waiver-Wire Haul, Claim Seven Players

The Miami Dolphins were extremely active on the waiver wire, adding seven new players to their roster as they continue reshaping the team ahead of the 2026 regular season.

Miami claimed quarterback Brady Cook, defensive backs Marcellas Dial, Reese Taylor, and Julius Wood, offensive tackles Chukwuebuka Godrick and Jarrett Kingston, and tight end Justin Joly.

The seven additions give the Dolphins reinforcements at several positions and show that the front office isn’t satisfied simply standing pat with the roster it assembled during training camp.

Dolphins Add Brady Cook at Quarterback

One of the most interesting additions is Brady Cook, who comes to Miami from the New York Jets.

Cook played his college football at Missouri and gives the Dolphins another young quarterback to evaluate. Miami has been busy reshaping its quarterback room over the past several days, and Cook now becomes another developmental option for the organization.

Miami Adds Two Offensive Tackles

The Dolphins also attacked the offensive line by claiming Chukwuebuka Godrick from the Kansas City Chiefs and Jarrett Kingston from the Houston Texans.

Godrick is an intriguing developmental tackle who did not play college football, while Kingston played collegiately at USC.

Offensive-line depth is always at a premium in the NFL, and adding two tackles indicates Miami wants more competition and insurance at one of the roster’s most important position groups.

Justin Joly Joins the Tight End Room

Miami claimed Justin Joly from the Denver Broncos.

Joly played at NC State and provides another young option at tight end. His arrival gives the Dolphins another player to develop while also potentially helping on special teams.

Dolphins Load Up on Defensive Backs

The biggest area of emphasis was clearly the secondary.

Miami claimed three defensive backs: Marcellas Dial from the New England Patriots, Reese Taylor from the Denver Broncos, and Julius Wood from the Dallas Cowboys.

Dial played at South Carolina, Taylor at Purdue, and Wood at East Carolina.

Adding three defensive backs in one day is noteworthy. The Dolphins have spent much of the offseason trying to build depth and competition throughout their secondary, and these claims give the coaching staff three more young players to evaluate.

Miami Continues Turning Over the Roster

Claiming seven players is a significant waiver-wire haul and will necessitate corresponding roster moves as Miami works toward its Week 1 roster.

The moves also reinforce that the Dolphins aren’t treating the initial roster as a finished product. Miami identified players released by other teams that it believes can upgrade the bottom and middle portions of the roster.
