Dolphins Meeting With Intriguing Quarterback Prospect
Aaron E. Martinez/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK

The first order of business for the Miami Dolphins this offseason: signing former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson to a 1-year, $6 million contract. However, that won't prevent the Dolphins from flirting with other quarterbacks.

According to John Hendrix of Athlon Sports , "(I) can confirm Texas QB Quinn Ewers is having dinner with the (New Orleans) Saints on Monday night. He's also meeting with the (New York) Jets, (Las Vegas) Raiders, and (Pittsburgh) Steelers today and will also meet with the Dolphins after Pro Day."

Ewers began his career at Ohio State University, but a crowded quarterback room led him to transfer after just one season in Columbus. In December 2021, the Southlake, Texas native announced his decision to transfer to the University of Texas.

During his three seasons at Texas, Ewers helped lead the Longhorns to a 27-9 record and a College Football Playoff Semifinal appearance in 2024. He ended his college career with 9,129 passing yards, 68 touchdowns, 24 interceptions, and a 64.9% completion percentage.

Despite being inconsistent at times, Ewers would be a natural fit for Head Coach Mike McDaniel's offense. While he may lack the arm strength of other quarterbacks in this draft class, he is a quick processor with good touch in the intermediate areas of the field.

It would be surprising for Miami to use an early-round selection on Ewers, but they must do their due diligence on every prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft class. They've been connected with a handful of other quarterbacks this draft cycle, so don't be surprised when they add one in April's draft.
