Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel Gives Update On Odell Beckham Jr.
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins met with free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. last week, but Beckham ultimately left without a deal.

However, that does not mean the two sides won’t agree to something in the future.

When asked about Beckham at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting on Monday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that conversations between Beckham and Miami’s front office are ongoing.

“Things went great with him,” McDaniel said, via Daniel Oyefusi of The Miami Herald. “We did make him an offer, and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him, and has options. So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”

Wide out is not really a huge need for the Dolphins, as they possess arguably the NFL’s best receiving tandem in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

But, Miami could always use a third option between those two star pass-catchers, and at this stage of his career, that is probably what Beckham is.

Beckham spent the 2023 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens but was a significant disappointment, logging just 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

The Ravens were hoping he would represent a viable No. 2 threat behind Zay Flowers, but his production did not match their expectations.

There was a time when Beckham was one of the best receivers in football, but those days are long gone.

He put together three straight Pro Bowl campaigns for the New York Giants between 2014 and 2016 to begin his career, but after spending five seasons with the Giants, Beckham was traded to the Cleveland Browns. He was a bust for the Browns, who released him in November 2021 after two-and-a-half seasons.

The 31-year-old went on to sign with the Los Angeles Rams for the remainder of that year and helped the team win a Super Bowl title in an auxiliary role. He then sat out all of 2022 before joining Baltimore.

Odell Beckham Jr. has not posted a 1,000-yard campaign since 2019.
