Dolphins Need to Add Playmakers in the Passing Game

Through 15 weeks of the 2025 season, it is pretty clear the Dolphins offense is lacking some serious juice.

I understand that Tyreek Hill has missed the majority of the season, but even still, he is fourth on the team in receiving yards for the year.

He also has the longest catch of the year.

Again, he has been out of the lineup since the end of September.

While Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane have provided solid production in increased roles, it still is not nearly enough for the team to win consistently in this league.

They need more help going forward.

Yes, there are some intriguing options in free agency, such as Dyami Brown, Tutu Atwell at wide receiver, along with David Njoku and Kyle Pitts at tight end.

However, Miami will have limited cap space to spare after the expected releases of Hill and Tagovailoa, the latter of whom will cost more than $50 million against the cap.

Also, after what happened during the 2025 off-season, I expect the team to continue to emphasize getting younger and more inexpensive through the draft.

Thankfully for the Dolphins and whoever their next general manager and head coach are, they will have plenty of options available to them with a presumptive top-10 pick.

At the wide receiver position in the first round, they could go with Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State, who at 6’2, 200 pounds is a natural separator who also is the most explosive receiver in the class.

If they want a bigger receiver to pair opposite Jaylen Waddle, they could target Carnell Tate out of Ohio State.

Tate, who stands at 6’3, has made a name for himself as a possession-type receiver for the Buckeyes and someone who can climb the ladder as well to make contested catches.

They can also double-dip at the position in round two or three, where they have four picks with someone like Germie Bernard out of Alabama or Zachariah Branch out of Georgia.

For the tight end spot where they have an aging Darren Waller currently, Miami could target Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon, who has compiled 12.1 yards per catch and eight touchdowns on the year, or Eli Stowers out of Vanderbilt, who had 62 receptions for over 700 yards.

Max Klare and Jack Endries are potential mid-round picks at the position as well.

Whichever way they choose to go, though, Miami needs more dynamic players in the passing game if they want to win next year.
