Dolphins place RB Myles Gaskin on IR with MCL sprain

The Miami Dolphins are placing running back Myles Gaskin on Injured Reserve, which will keep him off the field for at least three weeks while he recovers from a knee injury.

The second-year runner has been the primary ball-carrier for the Dolphins, running for 387 yards and two touchdowns. He also has almost 200 receiving yards this season. It's not clear who will take the bulk of the carries with Gaskin out, as Matt Breida has been dealing with a hamstring injury, while Jordan Brown has only 14 yards rushing on 18 carries (though he does have three rushing touchdowns).

But head coach Brian Flores did not express concern, saying he likes "the depth in the backfield."

"We got some guys banged up. Jordan Howard, he's always practiced hard. I think he's a good runner. That's why we brought him here. He'll get an opportunity," Flores said. "[Breida] still got a chance. Hamstrings are tough. We'll see how this goes throughout the week, but we like the depth in the backfield."

Miami will also be without DeAndre Washington, who they acquired in a trade, in their game against the Cardinals. The former Chiefs running back must miss the game due to league protocol due to COVID-19. He only has three carries for five yards this season, though he did run for almost 400 yards last year with the Raiders.

Fortunately, Arizona's run defense is among the worst in the league, as opposing teams are running for an average of 131 yards per game against them.
