Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa responds to ESPN analyst's work ethic comments

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa responded to Ryan Clark's recent comments about his work ethic Wednesday, telling the ESPN NFL analyst to keep his name out of his mouth.

Earlier this week, while discussing Tagovailoa's 2023 preseason debut against the Houston Texans, the former Pro Bowl defensive back went off on the southpaw.

"Let me tell you what he wasn’t doing: He wasn’t in the gym, I’ll bet you that," Clark said. "He was not at the dinner table eating what the nutritionist had advised. He looks ‘happy.’ He is thick. He’s built like the girls working at Onyx right now."

According to a report from Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post, Onyx is a strip club in Atlanta.

Tagovailoa posted career highs in passing yards (3,548), passing touchdowns (25), yards gained per pass attempt (league-leading 8.9) and quarterback rating (league-leading 105.5) in 2022. One of the biggest stories of the NFL season though, was his multiple concussions which forced him to miss four full games and parts of two others.

Tagovailoa took up jiu-jitsu in the offseason in an attempt to learn how to protect himself when he falls.

The signal-caller's trainer, Nick Hicks, apparently saw Clark's commentary and responded on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Tagovailoa finished Saturday's preseason contest 5-for-7 with 61 passing yards, and no touchdowns and one interception for a 58.3 quarterback rating.

The Dolphins will play their preseason finale at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, before opening up the 2023 campaign at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sept. 10 on the road against the San Diego Chargers.
